Introduction

This guide will show you how to correctly export a document from Adobe InDesign to be printed, and also how to flatten the layers within Adobe InDesign before printing.

  1. If exporting  a document to PDF from Adobe InDesign, the default is set to Adobe PDF (Interactive)
    • If exporting a document to PDF from Adobe InDesign, the default is set to Adobe PDF (Interactive)

    • This needs to be set in the dropdown box to Adobe PDF (Print)

    • You will then be able to select your PDF options and export successfully. Doing this should also flatten any layers you have before you print the PDF in Acrobat Pro DC.

  2. Do ensure you have saved an original copy before you start

    • If printing from InDesign, it is preferred that layers are merged first before you print.

    • On the right hand side, select the Layers button for the layers to appear as shown.

  3. Select all the layers (click on the first one, shift and click on the last one) and right click your selection.

    • Select Merge Layers from the drop down menu.

  4. Also right click the layer once you’ve merged

    • Select Layer Options and make sure the print button is ticked.

    • If this button is not ticked, the merged layer will not be available for printing.

Merging layers will cause text and vector graphics to be rasterized at a DPI that is likely lower than a high-quality printing press can produce. If you leave text and vector graphics layers, the printer will print them at the highest DPI it can.

A list of each layer for your document appears. Press the “Ctrl” key while clicking each layer in the list to select them. If You have any error on your Photoshop like Photoshop error 16 then you can contact here by clicking link.
