Introduction

We have introduced a service to enable any user of the Windows operating systems to quickly self-service the installation of software that has been pre-approved by the university. This guide shows you what you might see, and how to use it.

    • Some actions may require authorisation by a member of IT@arts, but in a way that means you do not have to log off, and will usually be performed remotely.

  4. This is generally used for troubleshooting purposes. If an application does not seem to run correctly, IT@arts can quickly test if running with elevated rights resolves the issue, without logging you off, and allowing you to continue using the application for this session.

    • If you have a reason that IT@arts understands, it can allow the installation of software rapidly, without you having to log off.

    • Any application can be elevated simply by right-clicking and choosing 'Elevate this Application'.

    • In order of prevalence you may see it displayed 3 possible ways (as shown in the second image).
